Get Out of Your Comfort Zone and be the BEST!
Are you really the best possible version of yourself that you can be?
I suspect if you are really honest, you would have to say no. Well guess what, you are not alone, we are all a work in progress. The important word here is ‘progress’. If you do absolutely nothing to find the best version of yourself you are not making progress. You cannot move beyond ambivalence and mediocrity if you stay in the same spot, and you certainly won’t find the best version of yourself without moving forward.
You are probably so focused on getting through your day to day that you haven't taken a minute to stop and ask yourself if you are really using your mind, your skills and your talents to follow your true passions and dreams. If you want to experience real change you need to get out of your comfort zone, plain and simple. If changing were so easy, we'd all be perfect people.
I appreciate you reading my blogs and I always hope that my suggestions and tips are of some help to you in your personal and professional pursuits for happiness and success. Today, I hope to inspire you with some new strategies or just plain reminders on how to find the 'best' version of yourself.
Create your own vision of what your best version is. Try not to be influenced by what somebody else wants you to be, especially if their vision does not align with yours. Doing so will only frustrate and disappoint you so stay true to yourself and trust your intuition.
The First Step is to Commit. Say you want to learn how to swim (maybe you have the Interior Savings Across the Lake Swim in Kelowna on your bucket list) but you have no prior swim experience. Your first step is to sign up for some swim lessons. It doesn’t matter if you have to start in the kiddie pool, you will get better and you will learn how to swim.
No Shortcuts or Detours . There is no shortcut to becoming a better version of yourself, you actually need to make a plan and do the work. Break your plan into small steps that are manageable and measurable.
Find a mentor, read, talk and learn. These days, you can use the Internet to chat with anyone, anytime about anything. Successful people (and not so successful people) love to give advice but remember to only take the advice that feels right for you.
Start with your own strengths and talents. We all have strengths and talents, so make a list of what ‘yours’ are before you embark on your journey of self improvement. You want to add to your strengths not detract from them.
Spell it out, write it out, say it out loud. Translating your thoughts into written words forces you to think about the ideas in your head on a much deeper level. Seeing is believing. Read your goals out loud, over and over. Put your goals in your phone, in your calendar, on the fridge, on your desk, just get them out of your head and somewhere that you can see them.
Set realistic Goals. Don’t set yourself up for failure by trying to be the best version of yourself by this weekend. Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to make your improvements but do... set some time lines otherwise it will be easy for you to get stalled or procrastinate all together.
Celebrate your achievements along the way. Take time to celebrate when you have achieved one of your improvement goals, no matter how small. Treat yourself to a new hair style, pedicure, new outfit. When you look your best, you feel your best.
Stop pretending to know things you don’t. You’ll never learn anything if you pretend you know everything. No one knows everything! Reach out and ask for help.
Don’t be afraid of Failure. You can’t become the best version of yourself by playing it safe. Failure provides valuable insights that can drive you to become highly successful in life. Try thinking what a worst-case scenario would be, when you are trying to improve, there is no worse case scenario, it's all good.
Talk to your friends and family. You can learn a lot about yourself by asking the people whom you trust the most what they think is best about you or not so much.
Exercise, eat healthy and get some Sleep. Exercising at the start of the day will help you to focus on your busy day ahead and keep all the balls in the air. If you absolutely can’t manage mornings, exercise whenever you can, just exercise. Being the best version of yourself means you look after your appearance and your health.
Help other people become the best version of themselves. Remember those who helped you on your way and pay it forward.
